ORLANDO, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team downed Marywood on Tuesday, moving their Hawks record to 6-1 to open the year.
The Hawks opened doubles play, taking the point, with a 6-2 win by
Isaac Swain and
James Birbara at No. 1 doubles ahead of the No. 2 singles pairing of
Edward White and
Colin Belmore securing the point for the Hawks with a 6-0 win.
In singles play, the Hawks opened up with a 6-0, 6-0 win by
Ben Palmer at the No. 5 singles position, before No. 4 singles saw
Jackson Slattery defeat Matthew Wygonik 6-0, 6-0. The match was sealed at No. 2 singles with
Steven Mathew taking a straight-set victory, without dropping a game over Fred Kloss.
No. 3 singles went in favor of
Cooper Brown who tallied a 6-0, 6-0 win over Leonardo Guzman, and
Colin Belmore added the final point for the Hawks taking a 6-2, 6-0 win over Alex Corcoran.
Roger Williams (6-1, 0-0 CNE) will await the final results from Coast Guard on Tuesday, before closing out their Florida swing with a match against Ohio Northern.
