MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The Roger Williams University women's track & field team delivered strong performances at the Swanson Invitational, hosted by Wesleyan University.

In the 100 meters, Natalie Reid led RWU in with a time of 13.68, followed by Amanda Walsh (13.81) and Mya D'Antonio (14.12). In the 200 meters, sophomore Olivia O'Neill posted a team-best 27.91, finishing 14th, while Karsyn Medeiros (28.31) and Reid (28.50) followed closely. Medeiros also excelled in the 400 meters, placing 11th (1:03.27), with O'Neill (1:04.36) and Angela West (1:04.39) finishing within a second of each other.

In the hurdles, Meghan Purcell secured 10th place in the 100-meter event (16.98), and Alexandra Biryukov placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:11.74).

Brittany Martin led the distance team, finishing 12th in the 1500 meters (5:10.08) and eighth in the 3000 meters (11:05.78). The 4x400m relay squad of Adeline Cook, Tabitha Didonato, Gabriella Sitzer, and Grace Baldwin earned third place (4:23.60).

In field events, Hailey Garcia had a standout day, winning the shot put with a throw of 12.58m, qualifying for New England Championships, and also broke a school record previously at 10.26m, and placed 16th in the discus (27.71m). West placed fifth in the javelin (34.16m), while Biryukov tied for fourth in the high jump (1.48m).

In the long jump, Reid led the Hawks with a 13th-place finish (4.81m). Victoria Bettencourt finished 11th overall in the triple jump while posting a mark of 9.52m.

Roger Williams will compete on Saturday, Mar. 29 at the Corsair Classic hosted by UMass Dartmouth, before competing in the Ocean State Cup at Bryant on Friday, Apr. 4 and Saturday, Apr. 5.
