BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team continued its dominant season with a commanding 7-0 victory over Bridgewater State University on Thursday at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.
The Hawks set the tone early, sweeping all three doubles matches. Camden Poitras and Will Hurlbut led the charge with a decisive 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, followed by Bronson DeSisto and Ryan Caroll securing a 6-3 victory at the top doubles spot, securing the point. Cooper Brown and Steven Mathew completed the sweep with a 6-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Roger Williams remained in control, winning all six matches in straight sets. Poitras delivered a flawless performance at No. 3 singles, blanking Khiem Nguyen 6-0, 6-0. Tucker Taylor matched the feat at No. 4 singles, shutting out Matthew Krampf by the same score. DeSisto led the way at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Adam Beatrice, while Caroll followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
Nathan Belmore and Iker Rodriguez Alcocer rounded out the sweep for Roger Williams with straight-set wins at No. 6 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Bridgewater State fell to 1-2 on the season.
Roger Williams (10-1, 0-0 CNE) will travel to Westr New England on Friday, Mar. 28 at 3:30 pm before hosting Endicott on Wednesday, Apr. 2 and Colby-Sawyer on Friday, Apr. 4, all of which are Conference of New England (CNE) play.
