Women's Lacrosse: Hawks Dominate Against Nichols, 22-2

DUDLEY, MASS. — The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team delivered a complete performance on Tuesday afternoon, cruising past Nichols College with a commanding 22–2 win at Vendetti Field.

From the opening draw, RWU controlled the tempo. Emma Terino (East Meadow, N.Y.) spearheaded the offense with eight goals and one assist. She netted four goals in the first quarter alone and added four more throughout the rest of the game to lead the team's scorers by having nine points.

Allie Shamberger (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) continued her stellar season as a playmaker, contributing two goals and five assists. She was involved in nearly every offensive sequence early, assisting on three of Terino's goals and finding her own scoring opportunities as the game progressed. Mia Pantano (Reading, Mass.) also delivered a standout performance with four goals and two assists, while Ella Waryas (Foxboro, Mass.) recorded a hat trick and added one assist.

The Hawks received additional scoring support from Jamie Anthony (Somers, Conn.), Lily Poletto (East Lyme, Conn.), Jaymie Arena (Hopkinton, Mass.), Mikayla Fey (Bethlehem, Pa.), and Miranda Hayes (South Burlington, Vt.), who each chipped in a goal. The offensive onslaught helped the Hawks build a 13–2 lead at halftime before scoring nine unanswered goals in the second half.

Defensively, the Hawks were just as dominant, limiting the Bison to only 18 total shots and just two goals, both of which came in the second quarter. Goalkeeper Zoey Cormican (Rochester, N.H.) was steady in the cage, making 10 saves while keeping Nichols off the board in both the first and second halves.

The Hawks also owned the battle for possession, winning 23 of 27 draw controls, including an incredible 16 by Hayes, and completing 12-of-15 clear attempts. The team forced 16 turnovers and held the Bison to just 12 shots on goal.

Roger Williams women's lacrosse (8-6, 6-1 CNE) will now look to host the University of New England on Saturday, April 19th at 3:00 pm on Bayside Field before they will take on Wentworth on the road in their last conference matchup of the regular season on Wednesday, April 23rd at 4:00 pm in Boston, Mass.
