The Roger Williams University Women's Track & Field team finished in fifth after the final day of competition at Gordon College for the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships event.

In the steeple chase, Alexa Suchy of Endicott took the top spot with a time of 11:44.77, whileÂ
Natalie FornoÂ
(Middletown, Conn.
) collected five points for the Hawks with a career best 12:26.66. In the field events,Â
Maura DennisÂ
(Warwick, R.I.
) had a height of 2.65m in the pole vault, andÂ
Victoria BettencourtÂ
(Swansea, Mass.
) had a distance of 4.83m in the long jump, collecting five and three points with a fourth and sixth place finish, respectively.

In the javelin,Â
Angela WestÂ
(Riverview, Fla.
) posted a throw of 38.35m, taking the individual title, withÂ
Morgan IppolitoÂ
(Point Pleasant, N.J.
) throwing of 32.17m, adding an additional five points finishing fourth overall.
In the second and final day of competition
Hailey Garcia (Maspee, Mass.) had a 25.21m discus throw, landing her in 13th place, while Ippolito followed close behind with a 15th place throw at 24.65m.
For the Triple Jump event,
Alexandra Biryukov earned a personal best distance with a jump of 9.88m that earned her a 6th place finish overall in the event. Also in the triple jump, Bettencourt earned a 9th place at 9.73m while
Peyton Sullivan (Weymouth, Mass.) and
Ellie Clayton (Bethel, Conn.) earned 12th at 9.53m and 15th at 9.20m, respectively.
As for Shot Put, both Garcia and Sullivan earned personal best throws. Garcia threw 13.17m, earning her the first place finish as well, while Sullivan threw 7.84 for a final placing at 20th.
In Relay Events, the Hawks
Amanda Walsh (South Windsor, Conn.),
Natalie Reid (Manorville, N.Y.),
Karsyn Medeiros (Bristol, R.I.), and
Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.) earned a 6th place finish in the 4x100m with a time of 53.41. For the 4x400m event,
Tab DiDonato (Cherry Hill, N.J.),
Grace Baldwin (Braintree, Mass.), West, and
Olivia O'Neill (Westwood, Mass.) competed for the Hawks, earning a 3rd place finish overall with a time of 4:14.81.
In Hurdles events, Baldwin saw a personal best finish with a 2nd place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:08.55.
Meghan Purcell (Colchester, Conn.) followed closely behind with a 4th place finish at 1:11.35. Biryukov and
Madison Zelin (Long Island, N.Y.) earned a 6th place at 1:12.69 and a 9th place at 1:15.05, respectively. For the 100m hurdles, the Hawks Purcell, Zelin, and Sullivan competed again, with Purcell coming out at the front of the group and earning a 9th place with a time of 16.95.
In the 100m track event, Walsh earned the highest placing spot for the Hawks with a time of 13.76. For the 200m event, O'Neill held the lead for the Hawks, finishing at 12th overall with a time of 28.33.
Talia Moine (New York, N.Y.) and West then competed in the 400m event, both earning personal best times. West earned the 8th place finish with her PB of 1:03.60, and Moine at 13th with her PB of 1:05.66.
For the 800m event, DiDonato earned the highest spot for the Hawks with a 6th place finish overall at 2:25.49. In the 1500m and the 5000m events,
Brittany Martin (Potsdam, N.Y.) placed the highest for Roger Williams, earning a 9th place finish in the 1500m with a time of 5:08.37 and a 10th place finish in the 5000m with a time of 19:44.04.
Roger Williams earned a total of 70 points at the CNE Championships, placing 5th out of 9 teams competing. The Hawks will now look to send qualifying athletes to the New England DIII Championship beginning on Friday, May 2nd.
