BRISTOL, R.I. — Roger Williams University shortstop
Shannon Starratt capped off her season by being named the Conference of New England (CNE) Player of the Year, leading a group of five Hawks who received All-Conference Honors.
Starratt posted a .386 batting average while starting all 42 games for the Hawks. She tallied 51 hits, including 11 doubles, three triples, and six home runs, while driving in 27 runs. Her slugging percentage of .652 led all RWU players, and she was a constant presence on the base paths with a .457 on-base percentage and three stolen bases.
Joining Starratt in earning All-Conference recognition was designated player
Caroline Thomas and pitcher
Raegen Germano, both named to the All-Conference Second Team. Thomas batted .232 with 16 hits, including three doubles, and added six RBIs in 35 games, she also was named to the Community Service Team.. Germano served as the team's ace, going 10-6 with a 2.74 ERA across 105 innings. She struck out 113 batters and held opposing hitters to a .180 batting average.
Outfielder
Lucy Maurao and pitcher
Keira Quadros were selected to the All-Conference Third Team. Maurao hit .336 with 39 hits, 10 extra-base hits, and 12 RBIs while starting all 37 games she played. Quadros earned seven wins in the circle, notching 87 strikeouts in 104.1 innings while posting a 3.02 ERA.
RWU finished the season 24-18 overall and 11-7 in conference play. The Hawks were especially strong at home, going 10-3 at Paolino Field. The wins mark both the best in a season and conference play since the 2017 campaign.
