BRISTOL, R.I. - Athletics Communication Director Nick Gendreau has announced the hiring of Essie Plouffe as Athletic Communications Coordinator at Roger Williams University.

"I am excited to have Essie join the Athletic Communications team at Roger Williams," spoke Gendreau. "Her passion for collegiate athletics, creative vision and experience showed throughout the interview process."

A self-taught photographer and graphic designer, Plouffe comes to Roger Williams with a passion for storytelling and content creation. Her previous position at Bishop Hendricken High School collaborated with the Director of Communications, Marketing, and Admissions creating engaging content and managing campaigns for a variety of departments including, admissions, arts, athletics, and development.

"I believe that athletics are an incredibly important conduit for people to come together in a positive environment," said Plouffe. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with a talented team and contribute to building an engaging and supportive environment around Roger Williams' student-athletes and teams."

No stranger to Division III athletics, Plouffe was a four-year starter for Lasell University's Softball team. A Public Relations major and Sport Communication minor, she also completed a full-year internship with Lasell's Athletic Communication office. After graduating in 2020, Plouffe served as an assistant coach for Lasell Softball for three years and managed the team's social media pages for five years.
