Women’s Soccer: Hawks Battle Salve Regina to Scoreless Draw

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's soccer team battled Salve Regina University to a 0-0 draw Friday evening on Bayside Field.

The Hawks came out strong in the opening half, generating multiple opportunities on goal. Sophomore Casey Donnelly (Milton, Mass.) fired a pair of shots on target in the first 25 minutes, but both were denied by Salve Regina goalkeeper Reagan Moffatt. Roger Williams continued to push forward, racking up six first-half shots and four corner kicks, yet entered the break still searching for the opener.

In the second half, the Hawks' attack continued to apply heavy pressure. Julia Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) forced two shots late in the contest, while Beth Yucius (Milford, Conn.) and Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.) added four shots apiece. Despite outshooting the Seahawks 17-3 overall, Roger Williams could not break through as Moffatt tallied six saves to keep the game level.

Defensively, goalkeeper Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) anchored the Hawks' back line, facing only three total shots and making one save to secure the clean sheet. The Hawks' defense limited Salve Regina's opportunities, holding them to just one shot on goal over 90 minutes of play.

Roger Williams (0-0-1, 0-0 CNE) will return to action on Monday, Sep. 1, when they travel to face Keene State at 1:00 pm before going to Endicott on Saturday, Sep. 6, at 4:30 pm.
