Women’s Volleyball: Hawks Hold Off Suffolk Rally to Secure Sweep, Davis Records 150th Career Win

BOSTON, Mass. The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team continued its winning momentum Tuesday night, sweeping Suffolk University in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-23). Behind balanced scoring and steady defensive play, the Hawks fended off a late rally from the Rams to secure their sixth win of the season. With this sweep, Head Coach Danielle Davis records her 150th career win.

In the opening set, the Hawks established control from the service line, recording five aces and keeping Suffolk off balance offensively. Roger Williams held the Rams to a -.077 hitting percentage and closed strong for a 25-19 win.

The second frame saw RWU's attack sharpen, with 15 kills on a .194 clip. Setter Emma Bosco (North Andover, Mass.) spread the offense effectively, while Peyton Felix (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Brianna Picchietti (Batavia, Ill.) powered the front row. Another late push gave the Hawks a matching 25-19 result to take a 2-0 lead.

Suffolk responded in the third set, leaning on Emily Norgrove and Emmy Thomander to push Roger Williams to the wire. The Rams erased an early deficit and tied the score late, but the Hawks held their composure, using timely kills from Angela West (Riverview, Fla.) and key defensive stops to close out a 25-23 victory and seal the sweep.

Picchietti and Kaydence Fish (Bedford, N.H.) led the Hawks with 9.5 points apiece, while Felix and West added eight-plus kills each. Roger Williams finished with 38 kills and a .167 hitting percentage, while limiting Suffolk to 30 kills on a .072 clip. The Hawks also held edges in service aces (10–6), digs (50–47), and blocks (7.0–6.0).

Individually, Picchietti tallied nine kills and a block assist, while Fish was dominant at the net with six total blocks. Felix contributed eight kills at a .227 hitting percentage and two block assists, while West swung .571 with eight kills and a block assist. Bosco directed the offense with 26 assists, three aces, and eight digs, while Marianna Hernandez (Norwalk, Conn.) paced the defense with 15 digs. Izzy Unsworth (Milford, N.H.) chipped in three aces and six digs.

Roger Williams (6-8, 2-0 CNE) returns to action Friday, Oct. 3, hosting Endicott at 6:00 PM in a key conference matchup.
