Women’s Soccer: Hawks Secure First Conference Win Against Endicott

BEVERLY, M.A. – The Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team started Conference of New England (CNE) action with a hard-fought win over Endicott College this weekend. The Hawks and Gulls battled the rain as they faced off on Saturday, Sept. 6 until play was suspended in the 30th minute. They resumed play on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Roger Williams had seven shots within the game, with five of those being on goal, while Endicott only have four shots, one of which placed on net. Defensively, the Hawks' Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) was locked in, having to make only one save within the matchup. For the Gulls, Amanda Cosgrove made four saves and allowed one goal.

Things were quiet in the first half of the matchup, the Hawks having only two shots, both on goal before play was suspended on Saturday afternoon. When play resumed on Sunday, the difference maker goal came in the 53rd minute, when Meghan Goutink (Hauppauge, N.Y.) found the back of the net following an assist from Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.). The goal came just moments after a shot by D'Antonio hit the post.
 
Roger Williams (2-0-1, 1-0-0 CNE) will host UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7:00 PM on Bayside Field. As for Endicott (0-4-0, 0-1-0 CNE), they will host Emerson on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 7:00 PM.
