FALL RIVER, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Ice Hockey team fell to #8/9 Curry on Saturday afternoon, falling 11-1, at Driscoll Arena in the second of the squads' home-and-home series.
The Hawks were out shot 35-12, while Curry saw eight players score a goal int eh contest, with 14 players registering a point. The Colonels saw Blake Rothstein finish with three goals to lead the squad, with Taurin Haddon-Harris finish with three points with a goal and two assists, while JP Moreira had two points with a pair of goals. Goalkeeper, Cam Smith, played all but 30 seconds, due to a delayed penalty, that ended in a goal, made 11 saves.
Cam Prodin (Dearborn, Mich.) finished the game making 24 saves in his first game action since Nov. 21 at Wentworth. The Hawks went 2-for-3 on the penalty kill, while Curry held the Hawks without a power play goal.
Curry stuck four times in the opening period, with Rothstein tallying two in the opening frame, while Grady Friendman and Tyler Isherwood each tallied a goal in the period. Curry picked up right where they left off in the second as they secured five goals in the period, capped with a goal from Moreira with 6:19 remaining in the frame.
Curry tallied another goal 4:40 into the third period, but
PJ Sweeney (Chamonix, France) recorded the lone goal for the Hawks off of helpers from
Aidan Radic (Castle Rock, Colo.) and
JJ Alger (Brewster, Mass.) to take advantage of a power play, but Curry secured another goal to round out the game just 13 seconds later.
Roger Williams (5-10-0, 3-7-0 CNE) will face Western New England on Friday, Jan. 16 at 8:10 pm in Springfield, before hosting the Golden Bears on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 4:00 pm at Driscoll Arena.
