Men’s Ice Hockey: Late Third-Period Goals Lift JWU Past Hawks, 2–1

FALL RIVER, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Men's Ice Hockey team dropped a tight 2–1 decision to Johnson & Wales (Providence) on Friday evening at Driscoll Arena.

The Hawks struck early, opening the scoring just 1:58 into the first period when Aidan Radic (Castle Rock, Colo.) netted his third goal of the season off a feed from Cooper St. Hilaire (Lewiston, Maine). The even-strength tally gave RWU momentum as the Hawks controlled much of the opening frame and carried the 1–0 lead into the first intermission.

Roger Williams generated consistent pressure throughout the first two periods, finishing with 31 total shots, including 12 in the second period alone. However, JWU goaltender Jake Inzirillo turned aside 30 shots on the night to keep the Wildcats within striking distance.

Johnson & Wales broke through in the third period, tying the game at 4:37 on a goal from Brad Crook. Just over four minutes later, Chris Alexander capitalized at even strength for the eventual game-winning goal at the 8:56 mark.

RWU pushed hard in the closing minutes, pulling the goaltender for the extra skater in the final minute after a timeout, but could not find the equalizer despite several late shot attempts.

Jacob Jaslow (Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) made 35 saves in net for the Hawks, keeping the game within reach throughout all three periods. RWU went 100% on the penalty kill in the contest.

The Hawks will look to rebound as conference play continues this weekend against JWU again on Saturday, Feb. 14.
