Women’s Lacrosse: Hawks Dominate Gordon, 21–1, in Conference Play

BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Gordon College, 21–1, at Bayside Field. 

The Hawks controlled the game from the opening draw, erupting for 10 goals in the first quarter to build an early commanding lead. Roger Williams continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, adding five more goals to take a 15–1 advantage into halftime. 

Roger Williams maintained its momentum throughout the second half, outscoring Gordon 6–0 over the final two quarters to secure the decisive conference victory. The Hawks outshot Gordon 32–6 and held a significant edge in draw controls (21–4) and ground balls (22–7), showcasing their dominance in all phases of play. 

Lily Poletto (East Lyme, Conn.), Mollee Merritt (Cheshire, Conn.), and Natalie Jones (Granby, Conn.) each led the offense with three goals apiece, while Molly Schmitz (Hamden, Conn.) and Morgan Earls (Portland, Maine) each added two goals. Miranda Hayes (South Burlington, Vt.) played a key role in the attack, recording a game-high four assists along with a goal. The Hawks also saw goals from Jamie Anthony (Somers, Conn.), Lauren Canata (West Springfield, Mass.), Noelle Finucane (Marshfield, Mass.), Allie Shamberger (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Mikayla Fey (Bethleham, Pa.), Meaghan Holmes (Pembroke, Mass.), and Cali Wilson (Sag Harbor, N.Y.) in the balanced offensive effort. 

Defensively, Roger Williams limited Gordon to just three shots on goal and forced 19 turnovers, while the goalkeeping duo of Aizza Chase (Cohasset, Mass.) and Anna Sullivan (Marshfield, Mass.) combined for two saves in the win. 

With the victory, Roger Williams improves to 3–0 in conference play and 3–5 overall. The Hawk's next game will be March 28th at Endicott at 3:00 PM.
