NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Women's Track & Field team showcased depth across all event groups at the Corsair Classic hosted by UMass Dartmouth, recording a new school javelin record and multiple personal bests throughout the meet.
Angela West (Riverview, Fla.) set a new school record in the javelin with a 41.75m first-place throw.
In the hammer throw, Emma Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) marked a personal best with a 30.68m throw. West led the Hawks in the discus with a personal best 27.46m throw, while Jackson led the Hawks in the shot put with an 8.63m throw.
In jumping events, Kaylee Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed third in the long jump with a personal best distance of 4.84m. In the high jump, Hanna Tomany (Fremont, N.H.) led the Hawks with a tenth place 1.37m jump.
Olivia O'Neill (Westwood, Mass.) paced the Hawks in the 800 meters with a sixth-place finish and 2:33.93 personal best time. In the 400 meters, Karsyn Medeiros (Bristol, R.I.) finished seventh with a time of 1:05.04. Natalie Reid (Manorville, N.Y.) led the Hawks with a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters with a personal best time of 28.05, while Amanda Walsh (South Windsor, Conn.) finished seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 13.66.
The Hawks had a strong showing in the 4x100 relay, finishing fifth with a time of 53.18.
In the 400 hurdles, Grace Baldwin (Braintree, Mass.) finished fourth with a time of 1:10.31. Peyton Sullivan (Weymouth, Mass.) led the Hawks in the 100 hurdles with a personal best of 19.36.
In distance, Gabriella Sitzer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) finished with a personal best time of 20:26.35 in 5000 meters. Katelynn Joseph (Cumberland, R.I.) paced the Hawks in the 1500 meters with a 5:49.88 time.
Roger Williams will look to build on the strong performances as the outdoor season continues on April 3 and April 4 at the Ocean State Cup hosted by Bryant University.
