ORLANDO, Fla. — The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team secured a narrow 4–3 victory over Hamline University on Monday morning at Lake Cane.
The Hawks earned the early doubles point by winning two of the three matches.
Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) and
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) opened with a strong 6–2 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Om Seth (Lincoln, R.I.) and
Jackson Slattery (Watertown, Conn.) clinched the point with a 6–4 victory in the No. 3 position. Hamline picked up the lone doubles win at No. 2 with a 6–4 result.
In singles play, Roger Williams secured three crucial victories to seal the match. Carroll delivered a win at No. 2 singles, defeating Hamline 7–6, 7–1.
Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) added another point at No. 5 singles with a 7–6, 6–2 victory, while Slattery battled through a three-set match at No. 6 singles to win 6–2, 3–6, 10–4.
With the win, Roger Williams improves to 5–3 overall while Hamline falls to 2–6 on the season.
