NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team defeated Colby-Sawyer 5-2 in a closely contested match on Saturday to stay undefeated in Conference of New England play.
The Hawks picked up the doubles point to start the match. Iker Rodriguez Alcocer (Nuacalpan de Juarez, Mexico) and Tucker Taylor (Gonzales, Texas) defeated Oliver Van Hattum and Caiden McManus 6-1 at No. 3 Doubles. Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) secured the point as they defeated Ashton Meuse and Oliver Gore 6-2 at No. 1 Doubles. CSC took the No. 2 Doubles match, as Peyton Meuse and Zsombor Homonnay defeated Camden Poitras (Londonderry, N.H.) and Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) 6-4.
Om Seth (Lincoln, R.I.) picked up another point for the Hawks as he defeated Jacob Riis 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 Singles. The Chargers secured their first point as Oliver Gore defeated Rodriguez Alcocer 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 Singles. Hurlbut kept the Hawks' lead defeated Max Biedermann 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6 Singles.
Carroll clinched the match for RWU, defeating Zsombor Homonnay 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 Singles. DeSisto took the win at No. 2 Singles, fighting for the win over Ashton Meuse, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4. The Chargers picked up one more point as Poitras fell to Peyton Meuse 7-5, 6-1 at No. 4 Singles.
Roger Williams (14-4, 8-0 CNE) will host Gordon on Tuesday, Apr. 14, before heading to Endicott on Thursday, April 16.
