BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Gordon on Tuesday afternoon in Bristol. With the win the Hawks remain perfect in Conference of New England (CNE) play, holding a 9-0 conference record.

The Hawks opened the day by claiming the doubles point with wins in all three matches. Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) teamed up for a 6-3 victory at No. 1 Doubles, while the pairing of Camden Poitras (Londonderry, N.H.) and Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) followed with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot to secure the doubles point. Tucker Taylor (Gonzales, Texas) and Steven Mathew (Bayport, N.Y.) won 6-4 in the No. 3 spot to round out the sweep for RWU.

Roger Williams extended its lead in singles competition, earning three consecutive victories to clinch the match. 

Hurlbut defeated Jack Makiej 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 Singles, before Carroll delivered a strong performance at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Santiago Diaz. At No. 5 singles, Om Seth (Lincoln, R.I.) won over James Wellborn 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot.

Poitras rounded out the scoring for the Hawks, as he picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Percy Martinez.

Gordon picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, as Jeffrey Bodner defeated DeSisto at the No. 1 spot 6-4, 6-2. The Fighting Scots also picked up the close No. 3 Singles win as Gabriel Guzman topped Iker Rodriguez Alcocer (Nuacalpan de Juarez, Mexico) 2-6, 7-5 (10-8).

Roger Williams will round out regular season play this week, traveling to Endicott on Thursday, Apr 16 before heading to Curry on Saturday, Apr. 18.
