Women's Track & Field: Relay and Heptathlon Highlight Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Women's Track and Field team's Silfen Invitational was highlighted by a relay podium finish and strong contributions across multiple event groups at Connecticut College.

Roger Williams was led by its 4x400-meter relay team, as Grace Baldwin (Braintree, Mass.), Hanna Tomany (Fremont, N.H.), Olivia O'Neill (Westwood, Mass.), and Karsyn Medeiros (Bristol, R.I.) combined to place third overall with a time of 4:21.38.

In the field events, Angela West (Riverview, Fla.) delivered a standout performance with a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 37.40 meters, while also recording a top-10 mark in the discus.

Following West's performance, the Hawks saw strong contributions in both the multi-event and jumping groups. Kaylee Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished sixth overall in the heptathlon with 3,548 points, while Peyton Sullivan (Weymouth, Mass.) placed eighth in the same event.

In the jumps, Tomany tied for seventh in the high jump after clearing 1.42 meters, adding another top-eight finish for Roger Williams, while also contributing to the Hawks' relay success earlier in the meet.

On the track, O'Neill ed the distance group with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters in 2:31.83, while Baldwin added a strong performance in the hurdles, placing sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:10.10.

The Hawks also saw success in the jumping events, with Natalie Reid (Manorville, N.Y.) placing eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.80 meters.

Additional depth came across the roster in the sprint and throwing events, including efforts from Medeiros and Tomany in the 400 meters, along with contributions from Emma Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) and Morgan Ippolito (Point Pleasant, N.J.) in the throws.

Roger Williams will return to action for their final meet ahead of the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships on Saturday, Apr. 18 when they take part in the Sean Collier Invitational.
