BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis team dropped a close match to Endicott 4-3 in in Conference of New England (CNE) play. This marks the team's first conference loss of the season and snaps their nine-match winning streak.
Endicott took the doubles point as Conrad Kadel and Aaron Terpko defeated Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) at the No. 1 spot before Drew Benporath and Antonio Marsallo defeated Camden Poitras (Londonderry, N.H.) and Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) 6-4 at No. 2 Doubles. RWU took the third doubles match as Tucker Taylor (Gonzales, Texas) and Iker Rodriguez Alcocer (Nuacalpan de Juarez, Mexico) defeated Eric Scalici and Spencer Smith 7-5.
Moving into singles play, Endicott tacked on another point as Hurlbut fell to Smith at No. 6 Singles 6-3, 6-4. Om Seth (Lincoln, R.I.) put the Hawks on the board, defeated Terpko 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 Singles. Carroll evened the score at 2-2, defeated Benporath 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
Endicott took the next two matches to secure the win. Scalici took a hard-fought win from Rodriguez Alcocer 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 3 Singles. Kadel defeated DeSisto 4-6, 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) at the No. 1 spot.
The Hawks took the last match of the day as Poitras defeated Marsallo 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4 Singles.
Roger Williams (15-5, 9-1 CNE) will be back in action on Saturday, Apr. 18 as they head to Curry to round out the regular season.
