BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Tennis Team will host Colby-Sawyer in the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament Semifinals on Tuesday on the RWU Tennis Courts.
Roger Williams earned the top seed in the field after finishing 16-5 on the season, and 10-1 in CNE action. The Hawks were able to come away with the tiebreaker to take the top spot after sitting in a three-way tie for the top record in the field. Colby-Sawyer finished, 8-3 in CNE action, and is 13-10 on the year.
The two programs have been evenly matched throughout their 27 total matches all-time. The Hawks hold the slight edge with a 14-13 record against the Chargers, while posting a 7-3 record in their last 10 matchups. At home, the Hawks hold an 8-4 record in Bristol.
Earlier this season, the Hawks took a 5-2 victory over the Chargers in New London, N.H. The Hawks took two of three doubles matches, taking the point. The two teams then split the opening two singles matches at No. 5 and No. 3 singles, before
Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.) and
Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) secured the Hawks' win at No. 6 and No. 2 singles.
Bronson DeSisto (Las Vegas, Nev.) then added a point with a win at No. 1 singles.
