BRISTOL, R.I. — After helping lead the Roger Williams University softball team to a return trip to the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship round, Shannon Starratt (Lake George, N.Y.) earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Region II First Team honors, while Raegen Germano (Old Tappan, N.J.) collected Third Team recognition, as announced by the organization.
Starratt was selected as the region's First Team shortstop in Region II. Across 41 games, Starratt hit .397 with 50 hits, 29 runs scored, 34 RBI, 12 doubles, two triples, and six home runs while posting a .483 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage. She also added nine stolen bases and anchored the Roger Williams infield with 58 putouts and 75 assists defensively.
The junior recorded 17 multi-hit games during the season. Starratt tallied three RBI against Coast Guard on March 25, homered and drove in three runs against Nichols on April 26, and added another home run and two RBI in a regular-season matchup against Endicott on April 21. She also collected two hits in Roger Williams' postseason victory over the Gulls on May 8 to help send the Hawks into the CNE Championship series.
Germano earned Third Team All-Region honors, finishing the year with a 12-5 overall record and a 2.20 ERA across 108.0 innings pitched, striking out 109 batters while holding opponents to 68 hits.
Throughout the season, Germano delivered a series of dominant performances inside the circle. She struck out 14 batters in a complete-game victory over Gordon on May 2 and added nine strikeouts in a postseason win over Johnson & Wales on May 7. Germano also tossed complete-game victories against Rhode Island College, Coast Guard, Suffolk, the University of New England, and Nichols while allowing one run or fewer in each of those outings. Against Endicott in the championship round, Germano allowed just two hits and one run over seven innings in a tightly contested 1-0 battle.
