Softball: Five Hawks Land on College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

BRISTOL, R.I. — Five members of the Roger Williams University Softball team were recognized for their success in the classroom and on the field, earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.

Shannon Starratt (Lake George, N.Y.), Hailey Williams (Vernon, Conn.), McKenzie Foley (Hanover, Mass.), Lucy Maurao (Holliston, Mass.), and Keira Quadros (East Providence, R.I.) each received the distinction after helping guide the Hawks to a 26-15 overall record during the 2026 campaign. The honor recognizes student-athletes for combined academic and athletic excellence. To be eligible, softball student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average while competing in at least 90 percent of the team's games or starting in at least 66 percent of contests. Pitchers may also qualify through appearance and innings-pitched requirements.

Starratt, a marketing and sports management major, turned in one of the top offensive seasons in the Conference of New England, leading the Hawks with a .397 batting average while adding 50 hits, 12 doubles, six home runs, and 34 RBI across 41 starts. She also posted a .483 on-base percentage and .667 slugging percentage during the season, while being an NFCA First Team All-Region player at shortstop.

Williams, majoring in forensic biology and criminal justice, started 40 games for Roger Williams and batted .366 with 52 hits, eight doubles, four home runs, and 19 RBI. Defensively, Williams anchored the Hawks with a .991 fielding percentage, committing just two errors in 211 chances.

Foley appeared in 41 games with 40 starts, hitting .345 with 41 hits, seven extra-base hits, and 20 RBI. She also added seven stolen bases while recording a .944 fielding percentage in the infield. Foley is an accounting major.

Maurao continued her consistent offensive production for the Hawks, batting .323 with 40 hits, 30 runs scored, four home runs, and 17 RBI in 39 starts. She also swiped nine bases while finishing with a .401 on-base percentage. Maurao is a psychology major. 

Quadros earned the honor as both a pitcher and a utility contributor for Roger Williams and is majoring in electrical engineering. In the circle, Quadros posted an 11-5 record with a 2.78 ERA, totaling 70 strikeouts in 85.2 innings pitched while making 21 appearances. She also recorded a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage during the season.
