CNE RELEASE

BRISTOL, R.I.
– After graduating from Roger Williams University last May, field hockey standout Chelsea King (Albany, N.Y.) has been selected as the Conference of New England's nominee for the Division III Commissioners Association Women's Student-Athlete of the Year Award, as announced by the league office.

The D3CA award recognizes graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers through academic achievement, athletic excellence, service and leadership. King will now advance to regional consideration, with each regional honoree moving forward as a finalist for the national award.

King concluded her career as the most decorated student-athlete in RWU field hockey history. During her senior campaign, she became the program's first National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American after recording single-season program records of 66 points and 28 goals while adding 10 assists across 21 contests.

The two-time CNE Offensive Player of the Year ranked fifth nationally in NCAA Division III in both goals per game and points per game during the 2025 season. She was also named to the NFHCA All-Region I First Team for the third consecutive year and became the first student-athlete in program history to earn NFHCA Senior Team recognition.

King finished her career as RWU's all-time leader in points (205), goals (84) and assists (37). She also established program records in points per game (2.53), goals per game (1.04) and assists per game (0.46), becoming the first field hockey student-athlete in RWU history to surpass 200 career points.

During her four seasons, King helped the Hawks compile a 55-27 record, reach three consecutive conference championship games and capture the program's first CNE championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2024. She was also named RWU's Female Athlete of the Year in 2025.

A finance major, King earned a place on the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad in each of her four seasons. She was also recognized as an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction and earned CNE Academic All-Conference honors during her career.
