Roger Williams University Announces 10th Athletics Hall of Fame Class

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Athletic Department has announced the 10th class of the RWU Athletics Hall of Fame. Receiving induction are Matt Duggan '09 (Sailing), Jenny (Dill) Okubo '07 (Women's Swimming & Diving), J. Michael Lynch '01 (Men's Basketball), Mark Mastin '91 (Men's Volleyball), and the 2014 Women's Soccer Team.

The induction ceremony will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 in the Gabelli School of Business as part of Homecoming & Family Weekend.

Duggan helped elevate RWU Sailing into a national contender during his career, earning two ICSA All-America honors and two NEISA First Team selections. He skippered the Hawks to their first ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championship appearance in 2008 and helped Roger Williams reach a program-best No. 2 national ranking while finishing sixth nationally in 2009. Following graduation, he returned as an assistant coach, helping guide the Hawks to their first ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship appearance.

Okubo was a member of the inaugural Women's Swimming & Diving team and served as the program's first captain. She became the first NEISDA individual champion in program history, winning the 50-yard breaststroke in 2006, and earned six All-NEISDA honors during her career. She helped lead the Hawks to their first Commonwealth Coast Conference invitational championship and concluded her career holding eight school records while being named the 2006-07 Roger Williams Female Athlete of the Year.

Lynch finished one of the most accomplished careers in program history, totaling 1,446 career points, 787 rebounds, and a school-record 248 blocked shots. A First Team All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection as a senior, he ranked ninth nationally in scoring during the 2000-01 season while helping lead the Hawks to the 1999 CCC Tournament Championship. His name remains among the program's all-time leaders in nearly every major statistical category.

Mastin was a four-year starter and three-year captain who helped establish Roger Williams Men's Volleyball as a national contender. A two-time All-EIVA Division III selection, he led the Hawks to three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and earned an invitation to the U.S. National Team tryouts following graduation. In 1992, his No. 3 jersey became the first retired in program history.

The 2014 Women's Soccer team produced one of the finest seasons in program history, compiling a 19-3-4 record while capturing the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship and advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament Third Round. Led by CCC Coach of the Year Tim Moody and Offensive Player of the Year Mariah Kaiser, the Hawks ranked among the nation's leaders offensively and defensively while placing seven student-athletes on the All-CCC teams.

The Roger Williams University Athletics Hall of Fame recognizes former student-athletes, coaches, teams, and contributors whose achievements have had a lasting impact on Hawk Athletics. The 2026 class continues that tradition by honoring individuals and teams whose accomplishments helped shape the University's athletic legacy.
