BRISTOL, R.I.- Roger Williams men’s soccer sophomore goalkeeper Peter Plate (Commack, N.Y.) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week and RWU Male Athlete of the Week for his outstanding play in goal last week.

 

Plate was instrumental in the Hawks 2-1 conference road victory over Gordon College, Wednesday afternoon. Plate posted seven saves in the contest, keeping the Hawks within striking distance and allowing the offense to snatch victory away from the Scots with two goals scored within the final six minutes.

 

The win places RWU in a three-way tie atop the TCCC standings with Western New England College and New England College also sharing 13 points.

 

Plate currently stands with a 0.85 goals-against average and a .833 save percentage, including 30 saves in seven games. He has recorded a shutout three times this season.

 

Plate and the Hawks return to action Saturday at Nichols College. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
