SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The RWU wrestling team recorded a sixth place finish among the 17 teams Saturday at the Springfield College Doug Parker Invitational. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy won the event with 135 points.

The Hawks totaled 97.0 points to secure sixth place. Springfield College, with 124.5, and Williams College, with 122.0, rounded out the top three.

Five wrestlers placed in the tournament. In the heavyweight division there was a battle of two Hawks, as junior Zackery Weinrich (Newton, N.J.) defeated teammate Phil Kelly (Quincy, Mass.), 5-1, to take third place.

Senior James Woods (Demarest, N.J.) earned fourth place, wrestling at 184, dropping a 9-4 decision to Springfield's Greg Dussol in the end.

At 197, freshman Dillon Lawler Verona, N.J.) earned a fifth-place finish with a win by default over Josh St. Ours of Plymouth State. At 157, junior Kyle Rodgers (Danbury, Conn.) earned a sixth-place finish suffering a defeat by default to Eathan Raymond of Bridgewater State College.

The Hawks have some time off from competition until Dec. 13, when they travel to the University of Southern Maine along with Plymouth State and American International College.
