PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Roger Williams University wrestlers picked up a number of strong individual performances Saturday at the Wildcat Open, hosted by Johnson & Wales.
At 133 pounds, RWU saw one of its most productive brackets.Maceo Eramo (Long Beach, N.Y.) earned two victories, recording a fall over Maine Maritime's Trevor Llewelyn and a 5-0 decision against Norwich's Dante Bilskis. Mateo Eagleson (Mount Olive, N.J.) also added a win in the bracket, earning an 18-1 technical fall..
The Hawks had success at 141, where Braydon Wilding (Warwick, R.I.) battled through the consolation side with a 12-5 decision over Rhode Island College's Brady Zadora.
At 149 pounds, Gavin McKenna (Kingston, Mass.) put together a 2-2 day with bonus points, pinning Worcester Polytechnic's David Parrish and adding a major decision over Bridgewater State's Christopher Dubey. Nick Fatone (Norwalk, Conn.) added a technical fall against RPI's Anthony Denier.
Roger Williams saw Johnathan Fabrizio (Plaistowe, N.H.) collect two major decisions, while Tommy Iasello (White Plains, N.Y.) turned in one of the team's better stretches with three wins, including a technical fall over Springfield Tech's Derek McMahon. Jason Glicksman (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) also chipped in a tight 6-5 decision against Sacred Heart's Hank Powell.
The Hawks were especially active at 165 where multiple wrestlers advanced through consolation rounds. Gordon Murray (Porter Corners, N.Y.) led the way with four victories, including a technical fall and a major decision, before bowing out.
At 184, Cole Chase (Framingham, Mass.) secured a pin over Worcester Polytechnic's Eamon DiVenuto, while Conlan Simard (Berlin, Conn.) earned a major decision at 197against RPI's Thomas Ryan.
