Four Hawks named to All-TCCC Softball Team

BRISTOL, R.I.- The Commonwealth Coast Conference announced its 2009 All-TCCC Softball Team Thursday, including four Hawks on the prestigious team.

 

Of the four freshmen named to either the first or second team, three of them play for RWU. Freshman Jaclyn Doolin (Miller Place, N.Y.) earned TCCC Second-Team status after leading the entire conference with eight shutouts and a 1.65 earned-run average. Her 20 wins ranks eighth in the nation and she's also recorded 169 strikeouts to rank second in the TCCC.

 

Freshman Erica Castro (Medford, N.Y.) also earned TCCC Second Team status, recording more plate appearances than any other player in the conference. She boasts a .315 batting average and is just one shy of the Hawks' lead for most hits this season with 46.

 

Freshman Hannah Pirez (Bolton, Mass.) earned Second Team honors after leading the Hawks in runs scored (32), hits (47) home runs (6) and slugging percentage (.529). Her .341 batting average also leads the Hawks and ranks tied for 26th overall in the conference. On the field, she's recorded a team second-best 82 assists along with 102 putouts.

 

Junior Michelle Caprice (Oak Ridge, N.J.) was also named to the All-TCCC Second Team, registering a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 34 putouts and zero errors in 41 games. She ranks second on the team with a .331 batting average, while her on-base percentage ranks first at .422 with 127 at bats.
