BRISTOL, R.I. - Junior Drew Smith (Blue Point, N.Y.) and sophomore Justin Leddy (Sea Girt, N.J.) combined for nine goals to lead Roger Williams University to a 14-10 win over the University of New England in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

Smith scored four of his five goals in the first half for the Hawks (7-6, 5-3 TCCC), who won for the sixth straight outing. Junior Jim Turenne (Bristol, R.I.) added two goals and three helpers, while classmate Logan Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.) notched three goals towards the Hawks' winning effort.

First-year Tyler Thomas (Pleasantville, N.Y.) registered three goals to pace the Nor'easters (5-9, 1-7 TCCC), while graduate student Eric Santos (Jamestown, R.I.) finished with a pair of markers. Junior Michael Woods (Kittery Point, Maine) tallied one goal and two assists.

UNE pulled within one (9-8) at the 1:56 mark of the second period on a goal by Santos, only to see RWU net five unanswered scores over an 18-minute span to give the Hawks some breathing room down the stretch.

After the teams combined for 18 goals in the opening half and 13 in the second stanza alone, the hosts pitched a shutout (3-0) in the third quarter and allowed two late goals in the fourth to provide the final margin.

Roger Williams led from start-to-finish, jumping out to a 4-0 cushion early on. The advantage was still four (8-4) midway through the second quarter, when UNE sandwiched a Hawks score in a string of four goals to make the match close as intermission neared.

Junior netminder Tyler Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.) made seven saves for RWU, while his counterpart for UNE, sophomore Nate Porter (Cohasset, Mass.), recorded 12 saves.

Prior to the game RWU's six seniors were honored as they prepared to play in their final regular season home contest: Ryan Christensen (Granby, Conn.), Devin Hannan (Wiscasset, Maine), Connor McCabe (Stony Brook, N.Y.), Phil Powers (Summit, N.J.), Rian Kearney (Duxbury, Mass.) and Glenn Pacitti (Mastic, N.Y.).

The Nor'easters will return home Wednesday (4 p.m.) to host Gordon College, while Roger Williams travels to Curry College the same day for a 6:30 p.m. game under the lights.
