KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Softball picked up its first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Framingham State College Monday afternoon, followed by a 6-9 loss to Anderson University.
The Hawks were aided by the performance of Jaclyn Doolin (Miller Place, N.Y.) in the circle, tossing a complete-game seven-hitter, allowing only one unearned run in the contest. Offensively, she contributed to her cause, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Laura McConnell (Lexington, Mass.) also added a two-RBI single in the top of the sixth to help the Hawks on their way to the win.
In the second game, Kelly Marcin (Windsor Locks, Conn.) took the loss for RWU, surrendering seven runs in six innings. Hannah Pirez (Bolton, Conn.) had a strong day at the plate for the Hawks, going 2-for-4 with three RBI including a two-RBI triple.
Roger Williams (3-3) will take Wednesday off before playing the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Skidmore College Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
