BRISTOL, R.I. – Endicott College, ranked #16th in the country, remained perfect in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 12-10 win over the Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team Wednesday afternoon.
Roger Williams grabbed an early lead in the first quarter, with Dan Klink (Nashua, N.H.) taking a pass from Jim Turenne (Bristol, R.I.) and connecting on his first shot 1:13 into the game to make it a 1-0 Hawks lead. Both teams would exchange goals, with Endicott's Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.) and Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.) sandwiching scores around a Hawk goal by John Ricciardi (Duxbury, Mass.).
The Hawks added two more scores from Logan Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.) and Jim Tancredi (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) before Kyle Jordan (Falmouth, Maine) answered for Endicott to make a 4-3 Hawk lead after the first quarter.
The Gulls opened up the second quarter with a pair of goals to take their first lead of the game before Rob Andreozzi (Bristol, R.I.) tied the game at five at the 4:58 mark. Endicott would go on to score three more goals over the end of the half and the beginning of the third quarter to go back on top 8-5.
The Hawks responded with three straight goals of their own in a three-minute span. Logan Roebuck, Klink, and Drew Smith (Blue Point, N.Y.) each found the back of the net to tie the game back at eight.
Yet Endicott went on another three-goal run, with Brian Vincent (Norwalk, Conn.) scoring with 1:55 left in the third and Ozycz scoring six seconds into the fourth. Harry Holden (Duxbury, Mass.) logged his only goal of the game at the 13:52 mark to put Endicott on top 11-8
Logan Roebuck brought the Hawks within two with a tally with 10:56 left to play, but the Hawks would be held scoreless until the 3:17 mark, when Klink's third goal of the game made it 12-10 in favor of the Gulls.
The Hawks nearly mounted the comeback, but two crucial caused turnovers by Kevin Downes (Cheshire, Conn.) in the final two minutes sealed the victory for Endicott.
Mike Klein (Darien, Conn.) made ten saves for the Gulls in the win. Ozycz, Vincent, and Brendan Eppley (Darien, Conn.) each had two goals for Endicott.
Tyler Roebuck (Montgomery, N.Y.) took the loss for RWU, making 14 saves in the game. Klink and Logan Roebuck each scored three goals for the Hawks, while Turenne added five assists.
Roger Williams (7-7, 6-4 TCCC) host Regis College on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home game, while Endicott (12-3, 10-0 TCCC) wraps up the regular season on the road Saturday at Western New England.
