Women's Rugby wins CCRC title

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Rugby team defeated Wentworth 32-12 on Saturday, November 3 to win the championship of the new Colonial Coast Conference.

The game, played at Ft. Adams Park, marked the 2nd time this season RWU defeated Wentworth, and sends the Hawks to the Eastern Regional Championship game.

The Hawks dominated most of the first half with tries by Captain Randi Featherstone and #8 Keri Topshe. However, Wentworth scored two tries of its own, and with the conversion, led 12-10 at the half.

Yet the second half belonged to RWU, as center Cat Baer and scrumhalf Becky Moroski each added a score, and flanker Ally Dykes scored twice.

The Hawks remain undefeated and play Castleton State for the Eastern Regional Championship this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Holyoke. The winner of that contest advances into the playoffs for the National Championship the following week.
