Women’s Rugby: Hawks Ranked Sixth Nationally, Set for Collegiate Rugby 15s Tournament

CANTON, Mass. –
The Roger Williams University Women's Rugby, coming off a 5-0 regular season campaign, are set for the Collegiate Rugby 15s Tournament, set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The Hawks are ranked sixth in the latest edition of the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Coaches Poll will play two matches at the Irish Cultural Centre Stadium in Canton over the weekend beginning on Sunday. Matching up in the bracket are the Hawks who will face with #4 Fairfield on Saturday, at 1:00 pm, before facing off against #3 Coast Guard, or #13 Marist in the regional final or third place match on Sunday.

Coast Guard went 6-0-0 on the season with 29 total points scoring 302 total points while holding opponents to 22. Fairfield collected 14 points going 3-1-1, on the season with a point differential of 138, while Fairfield finished with Marist finishing behind with 10 points, going 2-2-1.

The Hawks finished the year with 55 tries, 20 conversions, and 315 total points, converting at a 36.36 percent clip. On the defensive end, RWU registered 249 tackles made with an 81.64 percent tackle success rate, while limiting handling errors to just 26 knock-ons.

Kaya Haddad (Lee, Mass.) has been the team's offensive leader, racking up 14 tries for 70 points, using her speed and strength to consistently break through opposing defenses. Danielle Vogt (Warwick, N.Y.) followed closely with 12 tries and 60 points, providing a reliable presence both in open play and around the ruck. Jaden Logie (Storrs, Conn.) has been instrumental as both a playmaker and scorer, notching 45 points on three tries and 15 conversions. Maddison Edwards (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Skyler Kelemen (Stratford, Conn.) each added four tries apiece, while Lucy Hatch (Windham, Maine), Danyela Poore (Manchester, N.H.), and Shannon Appelle (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) also contributed key scores throughout the season.

Defensively, Vogt paced the team with 37 tackles and a 92.5 percent success rate, with Edwards posting a perfect 100 percent on 25 tackles. Logie (26 tackles, 86.67 percent), Isabella Murphy-Rodrigues (Stoughton, Mass.), 20 tackles, 86.96 percent, tackle rate, and Hatch ,10 tackles, 100 percent tackle rate, helped solidify the Hawks' backline.

The Hawks take the pitch on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 1:00 pm.
