Men's Lacrosse comes up short versus Trinity

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams Lacrosse team came up short in the second half to Trinity College losing 8-11. Under cloudy skies that turned to snow the Bantams improve to 2-3 overall while the Hawks slide to 2-3.

The Hawks scored first at 11:16 in the first period when Caleb Kenney (Portland, Maine) scored unassisted goal to put the Hawks up 1-0.  Trinity answered in less than a minute when Jeff Hebert (Chambly, Quebec) found Nick Shaheen (Williamsburg, Mass.) at 10:31 and then took the lead on a Nick Branholm (Jacksonville, Fla.) goal that was assisted by Chase Growney (Berwyn, Pa.).  Will Siefert (Druxbury, Mass.) evened the score on an unassisted goal at 3:53 but Matt Cohen (East Lyme, Conn.) put the Bantams back on top at 1:28.

Roger Williams scored the first three goals of the second period.  Siefert hit an open Tim Kelly (Ridgefield, Conn.) at 14:48 for the first score.  The second score came when Kelly found Drew Beck (South Salem, NY) for his first of the contest. Patrick Holland (Wilton, Conn.) found an open Siefert to close the run and put the score at 5-3 in favor of the Hawks.  The Bantams Terence Olson (Avon, Conn.) scored at the 9:46 to bring Trinity back with in one.  The squads traded unassisted goals by the Hawks Tom Brewer (West Hartford, Conn.) and Cohen to complete the first half at 6-6.

With increasing snow fall, Trinity scored two unassisted goals by Shaheen and Olsen in the third to put the Bantams up by two goals heading into the final period.  John Ricciardi (Duxbury, Mass.) picked up a loose ball in the snow, spun and found the net to bring the Hawks back with in one at 13:32.  The Bantam DeLaMater (Irvington, N.Y.) pushed the lead back to two goals with an unassisted attempt at 11:30.  Beck answered for the Hawks at the 9:12 in the fourth to put the score at 8-9.  Rob Nogueras () and Herbert solidified the victory with unassisted goals at 7:01 and :25 respectively.

Trinity's Riley Cahill (South Glastonbury, Conn) stopped 18 shots on the day and improves his record to 2-3.  Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, Conn.) stopped 19 shots and drops to 2-3.

The Hawks are back in action on Saturday, March 23rd to take on Keene State at 1:00 p.m. in Bristol, R.I. at Bayside Field
