Men's Lacrosse cruises past Curry

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team cruises past the Curry 13-8.   The Hawks remain unbeaten in the Commonwealth Coast Conference improving to 6-4 overall and 3-0 in league play while the Colonel drop to 7-4 and 0-3 in the CCC.

Will Siefert (Duxbury, Mass.) opened the scoring on a pass from Drew Beck (South Salem, N.Y.) at 14:22 in the first period. The Colonels not to be out done scored the next two goals to take their only lead of the first half.  Andrew Navoni (Natick, Mass.) put the first goal on net at 12:14 and Joseph Natale (Haverhill, Mass.) hit at 10:59.

The Hawks poured in the next two goals to retake the lead.  Dan Arket (Poughquag, N.Y.) shot found its mark at 6:01 and the duo of Siefert assisted by Beck connected at 1:39 to end the first period scoring.

The second period open with duo of Siefert and Beck collaborating for their third goal and assist respectively to put the Hawks up 4-2 at the 13:24 mark in the second period.  John Castellano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) found Natale for his second of the day to bring the Curry back within a goal at 4-3.

John Nessa (Concord, Mass.) banged out the next two score for the Hawks taking an assist from Siefert at 9:57 and John Ricciardi (Duxbury, Mass.) at 9:15 to put the Hawks up 6-3.

The Colonels responded with their own two goal swing when John Donahue (Wakefield, Mass.) found Castellano at 4:07 and Harrison Foster hit an open Connor McKeon (Larchmont, N.Y.) at 3:23 to bring it back to one goal game at 6-5.

With 00:50 left in the half Siefert struck again on a pass from Arket to bring the first half scoring to a close with a score of 7-5 in favor of the Hawks.

Beck found his first goal to open the second half on pass from Ricciardi who tallied his second assist of the game that put the hawks up by three 8-5. Todd Carson (Pennington, N.J.) gave the Hawks another on an unassisted attempt score at 9:51

Castellano ended the Hawks three goal run with an unassisted pop with 01:35 to go in the third period that brought the score to 9-6.

The Hawks poured on in the fourth period.  Tom Brewer (West Hartford, Conn.) fed Tim Kelly for the score at 11:09 and less than a minute later Beck and Siefert struck again for their fourth assist to goal connection at 10:14 that gave the RWU some breathing room at 11-5. Kirby Sundquist (Concord, Mass.) added his first goal of the day on an assist from Garret Ficara (Somers, Conn.) at 8:48 in the fourth.  Beck added his second goal and sixth point of the day on assist from Ben Wyskiel (Dover, N.H.) at 6:26 to put the score at 13-6.

Curry's Natale got his hat trick with 3:49 to play on assist from John Donahue (Wakefield, Mass.) and Connor McKeon made his second goal at 2:45.

The Hawks had a huge advantage in shots and groundballs finishing at 46/30 and 60/40 respectively.  Tim McGonagle (Concord, Mass.) saved 12 shots in the loss while Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, Conn.) stopped 10 balls in the win.

The Colonels return to action April 10th at home in Milton, Mass. to take on Wentworth at 4:00 p.m.

The Hawks hit the road to play Western New England in Springfield, Mass. at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10th.
