Men's Lacrosse clips the Colonels

Box Score MILTON, Mass. – In a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up in men's lacrosse on Saturday afternoon, Curry College lost to Roger Williams University, 12-5.  The loss drops the Colonels to 5-8 on the year and 0-5 in the CCC while the Hawks improve to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in the league.

The Hawks used 11 different scorers with sophomore Tim Kelly (Ridgefield, Conn.) leading all players with four points on one tally and three helpers.  The Colonels had five different scorers with junior Ronald Jensen (Zionsville, Ind.) and freshman John McMenomey (West Linn, Ore.) finishing with two points each.  Jensen had one goal and an assist and McMenomey chipped in with two assists.

Roger Williams netted the first five goals of the contest, three in the first period before Curry would get on the board.  In the first 15 minutes of play, the Hawks got tallies from juniors Garrett Ficara (Somers, Conn.), Patrick Holland (Wilton, Conn.) and sophomore Nick Gagnon (Milton, Mass.).  They netted two early ones to start the second off the sticks of junior Cameron Signorelli (Albany, N.Y.) and sophomore Eric Valenti (North Reading, Mass.).  With 7:06 remaining in the half, senior Harrison Foster (Saddle River, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal in a man-up advantage.  Roger Williams lead 5-1 heading into the break.

Curry opened the second half with two man-up goals to cut Roger Williams lead to 5-3.  Jensen fed the ball to junior Sean Ahern (Natick, Mass.) for his first on the day.  Jensen netted one just minutes later off a pass from McMenomey.  The Hawks however scored three unanswered goals to extend their lead to 8-3 heading into the fourth period.  Roger Williams's tallies came from sophomores Will Siefert (Duxbury, Mass.) off an assist by Caleb Kenney (Portland, Maine), junior Jordan Marshall (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and Kelly who also dished out a helper on Marshall

The final period saw six total goals, four by the Hawks and two from the Colonels.  With just 2:16 minutes off the clock, freshman John Lisitano (Guilford, Conn.) netted an unassisted goal followed by Siefert under a minute later.  Gagnon was credited with Siefert's tally.  The team's traded goals over the next 6:51 minutes of play.  Junior Connor McKeon (Larchmont, N.Y.) earned his first off an assist by McMenomey.  Roger Williams' freshman Max Cammarota (Redding, Conn.) answered back when he netted one off a pass from Siefert.  With 1:40 left in regulation, freshman Joseph Shea (Arlington, Mass.) scored the Colonels fifth and final goal.  The Hawks final tally came 31 seconds later when Kelly dished the ball to teammate senior Kevin Nash (Scituate, Mass.).

Roger Williams won 15 of 20 face-offs, outshot Curry 45-28 and held a slight advantage in groundballs with 32-24.

Junior Daniel Martin (Pittsfield, Mass.) made 16 saves for the Colonels in net in the loss.  For the Hawks, junior Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, Conn.) made 15 stops in goal for the win.

Curry is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to CCC opponent the University of New England for a 4:00 p.m. game start.  Roger Williams travels to Trinity on Wednesday in a non-conference match-up in a 4:30 p.m. start.
