Box Score DANBURY, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team logged an 88-44 win over Purchase College in the Hat City Tournament Friday evening, hosted by Western Connecticut State University at Feldman Arena.
The Hawks, now 1-2, were led by six players in double figures, headed by
Angelica Ariola (Prospect, Conn.) who poured in 14 points.
Rachel Battista (Johnston, R.I.),
Anna Walther (Northampton, Mass.) and
Mary Beth Cahill (East Williston, N.Y.) each added 13 points for the winners. Chipping in 10 points were
Mariah Nicholas (Acushnet, Mass.) and
Stephanie Bramante (Stoneham, Mass.).
For Purchase, now 0-2 on the season, Allison Haugh (New City, N.Y.) and Michelle Burke (Central Valley, N.Y.) had a team-high 12 points apiece. Elizabeth Osowiecki (Franklin Square, N.Y.) added 10 markers for the Panthers.
Bramante yanked in a game-high eight rebounds for the Hawks.
Sierra Sangetti-Daniels (Oneonta, N.Y.) pulled down a team-high six rebounds for Purchase.
Roger Williams will face Western Connecticut State in the championship game at 4:00 p.m. Saturday. The Colonials jumped out to a 22-10 lead after the first quarter of play against Elms College and cruised to an 87-60 victory.
