Women’s Soccer set to face Misericordia in NCAA Tourney

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Soccer team is gearing up to take on Misericordia College in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Roger Williams and Misericordia will face each other on Saturday, November 14 at 1:30 pm on the campus of William Smith College, who will be the host institution for the regional tournament.
 
Misericordia (15-3-1) earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking the fifth straight season that the team has secured a berth to the national tournament. The Cougars were upset by Wilkes University in the MAC Freedom Semifinals, falling 5-3 on penalty kicks after a scoreless double overtime draw.
 
Misericordia, ranked 17th in the nation in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, are led by MAC Freedom Co-Offensive Player of the Year Alex Gallagher, Defensive Player of the Year Kristen Ritter, and Rookie of the Year of the Year Kristen Murphy.
 
Roger Williams enters the tournament unbeaten at 19-0-3, after having won its second consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship. The Hawks shut out Gordon College 3-0 in the CCC Championship this past Saturday for the team's sixth conference title in program history. The Hawks also tied a program record with its 19th win of the season.
 
Roger Williams, ranked 16th in the country in the latest d3soccer.com poll, boasts the two-time CCC Offensive Player of the Year Mariah Kaiser, as well as the CCC Rookie of the Year in Samantha Woznicki.
 
Saturday's game will mark the first-ever meeting between Roger Williams and Misericordia.
