Men’s Lacrosse tripped up by Babson

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – on a cold and rainy day, Babson College slipped past the Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team Saturday afternoon, notching a 9-4 road win in non-conference action.

Roger Williams grabbed the first score of the contest, with Max Cammarota (Redding, Conn.) coming down the left side and firing in net for 1-0 Hawk lead five minutes into the game.

Unfortunately for Roger Williams, the Hawk offense would stall, as Babson held RWU without a goal until just under three minutes left in the second half. Over that stretch, the Beavers would tally six scores to go up by five. In the first period, Austin Fabel (East Rockaway, N.Y.) scored twice while Brendan Coan (Towson, Md.) added a score to give Babson a 3-1 lead going into the second period.

In the second quarter, Phil Russo (Middleton, Mass.) took the opening faceoff and drove down the field for a goal for a 4-1 Babson advantage. Coan and Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) added two more scores to build the Beaver lead to five before Cam Donnelly (Medfield, Mass.) took a clearing pass from Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, Conn.) just past midfield and drove down for a goal.

The third period saw only one goal scored, with Scott Doten (Western Springs, Ill.) notching an unassisted score at the 6:49 mark.  In the final quarter, the Hawks pulled within three with 9:32 left on back-to-back goals by Will Siefert (Duxbury, Mass.). However Connor Maloney (Hopkinton, Mass.) would win the ensuing faceoff and come downfield for his first goal of the year. Matthew Logan later (Downington, Pa.) later added a man-up goal with 3:07 goal to punctuate the win for Babson.

Jordan Shapiro (Pleasantville, N.Y.) picked up his third win of the year for Babson, making 11 saves in the game. Aubrey took the loss for RWU with 13 saves in the game.

On Tuesday, Roger Williams (2-3) will host Farmingdale State at 7 p.m., while Babson (3-2) travels to Baltimore to face Trinity College.
