Men’s Lacrosse wins regular season finale over Nichols

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team was victorious against Nichols College in the team's last game of the regular season, winning via a 15-7 margin.
 
Roger Williams started off the game with a goal by Nick Gagnon (Milton, Mass.) with an assist by John Gomer (Duxbury, Mass.). After several shots on goal by the Hawks, John Lisitano (Guilford, Conn.) was able to score with 8:28 left in the first quarter, bringing the score to 2-0.
 
Mike Hanna (Somers, Conn.) continued to advance for the Hawks, scoring with two minutes left in the first quarter. Seconds later, Caleb Kenny (Portland, Maine) followed with a goal for RWU. Jon Gomer (Duxbury, Mass/Duxbury) finished the quarter with a goal assisted by Gagnon. ending the first quarter with Roger Williams leading 5-0.
 
Hanna opened the second quarter with a goal in the first minute for Roger Williams. With an assist by Doug Brown (New York, N.Y.), Will Siefert (Duxbury, Mass.) scored, giving Roger Williams a seven-goal lead. Siefert later scored his second goal of the game with 12:30 remaining in the quarter, bringing the Hawk lead to eight.
 
Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) ended the drought for Nichols with a man-up goal assisted by Anthony Verville (Portland, Maine).  The goal for Bane was the 128th of his career, breaking the all-time record in Nichols history.
 
With the Hawks holding a ten-goal lead, Brian Hancock (Groton, Mass.) notched the second score for Nichols with 5:55 remaining in the half with and assist by John Zaremski (Dorchester, Mass.). Michael Pratt (Forestdale, Mass.) and Siefert ended the half with goals to put RWU on top 12-2 going into halftime.
 
Two minutes into the third quarter, Bane scored for Nichols with an assist by MacKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack). The Bison would tally four goals in the period, two by MacKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H.) to help bring Nichols within eight going into the final period.
 
Nichols opened the fourth quarter with a goal by Corey Davis (Wakefield, Mass.) with 10:41 remaining, but PJ McGovern (Garden City, N.Y.) got the score right back with his first goal of the game. Those would be the only goals of the period, as Roger Williams held on for the win.
 
Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, Conn.) collected his tenth win of the year, making two saves in the first half. Siefert scored five times for the Hawks, while Gagnon added four points on two goals and two assists.
 
James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) made 17 saves for Nichols in the loss. Davis had four points (1 G, 3 A), with Martin and Bane adding two goals apiece.
 
Roger Williams (12-4, 6-2 CCC) earns the #3 seed for the CCC Tournament will host Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Nichols wraps up the year at 6-10 overall.
