Hawks fall in three to the Jumbos

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team fell to Tufts University in three on Wednesday night.
 
The hawks started off with a four point lead in the first set with a service run by sophomore, Maria Bates
. The Jumbos would then go on three point run to tie the set. The set went point for point until  Anique Barch would get a kill for the Jumbos to take the lead. With a service error from Jumbos, the hawks would tie the game. The Jumbos won the set 25-23
 
The hawks were off to a slow start in the second set when the jumbos would go on a six point lead 7-1. The jumbos would keep the lead the whole second set with the hawks trying to find momentum. The third set was another close one, being only a two point difference. Freshman, Jill McManaman got a block to tie the game 24-24 until outside hitter Alexandra Garrett would get a kill to make it match point. The Jumbos won the third set 26-24.
 
Josalyn Benson had 23 assists and a .444 hitting percentage. Kristen Boyer had 9 kills on the night and Liz Flaherty would lead the hawks with 12 kills for the night. For the Jumbos, Mackenzie Bright hit a .308 with 5 kills and Maddie Kuppe would lead the jumbos with 13 kills. Angela Yu dished out 20 assists and 13 digs.
 
Roger Williams will host Curry College on Friday, Sept. 18th for the hawks first conference match of the season.
