The Hawks were not done there though, shortly after the go-ahead goal defenseman Nick Vetrano, found the back of the net finding a lane to the net through traffic, to score his first career goal. Siena though had an answer scoring late in the third to cut the Hawks lead in half. But Kelleher was on top his game making 25 saves through two periods.
The trend of Siena shooters skating back to the bench frustrated continued in the third. Kelleher looked determine to lead the Hawks to victory, as Siena pushed hard to tie up the game in the third. Kelleher's 17 third period saves (38 saves in total) shut the door and got the Hawks their first win of the season moving them to 1-1 on the year.
