BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's ice hockey team faced Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon at Portsmouth Abbey Arena, finishing the game with an 8-0 shutout for the Hawks.
Several players were able to find the back of the net during the game, ultimately lighting up the scoreboard for the Hawks. During the first period,
Brian Gazard (Ashland, Mass.) set off the scoring with assists from
Marco Santagati (Belmont, Mass.) and
Kyle Hummel (Orange, Conn.). Shortly after,
Peyton Defeo (Boxford, Mass.) scored next with assists from
Grady Chretien (Goffstown, N.H.) and
Matt Marois (Sutton, Mass.). The final goal of the first period came from
Jack Woods (Braintree, Mass.) assisted by
Collin Berube (Groton, Mass.).
The Hawks did not stop there, motivated by their back-to-back scoring,
Pat Codeanne (Wethersfield, Conn.) initiated the scoring for the second period with assists from
Henry Burnham (Brunswick, Maine) and
Shane Marshall (Canton, Mass.). Marshall then scored a goal of his own, flipping the roles with assists from Burnham and Codeanne. Codeanne scored again for the Hawks with 20 seconds left on the scoreboard, assisted by
Brendan McCabe (Pembroke, Mass.) and again by Marshall.
During the third period of the game, Marshall scored a second time for the Hawks assisted by Codeanne and
Matthew Capachietti (Beverly, Mass.). With a little over a minute left on the scoreboard,
Kameron Pierce (Lancaster, Mass.) finished off the scoring with assists from Berube and
Parker Defeo (Boxford, Mass.). The Hawks showcased their teamwork during this game with a final score of 8-0.
Roger Williams (4-7-0) will travel to UConn on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2:40 pm, the Hawks will then host Westfield State, Friday, Dec. 1 at 8:30 pm at Portsmouth Abbey Arena.
