Men's Ice Hockey Holds Off Army

Sunday brought some matinee action, as the the Roger Williams University Men's Ice Hockey team squared up Army for an 11:30 puck drop.

Sophomore goaltender Ryan Shea got his first start of his Roger Williams career.  The Hawks came out looking strong as the controlled the pace of the game in the first.  The Hawks had some chances but couldn't finish, until Ian Mitchell snuck one five hole on the Army goaltender to make it 1-0.

After a scrum in front of the Hawks net, Army was awarded a penalty shot.  With a chance to tie the game the Army was unable to convert as Shea flashed the pad to shut the door on Army's shooter.  The Hawks took that lead into the first and added to it in the second.  After a neutral zone turnover the Hawks went to work on the fore check, and after two great passes Joe Bina beat the Army goaltender short side to make the score 2-0.

Army however wasn't going down without a fight as they scored in the third to make it 2-1, but they were unable to find a way to tie the game, as Shea made 23 saves to earn his first win as a Hawk.
