The hawks go 1-1 on their last day in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Winter Haven, FL- The Roger Williams University softball team escaped Wesleyan College behind Juliet Hulme's with a 3-0 win but fell short to Lakeland College 1-5 on Thursday in Winter Haven, FL.

An ace performance by Juliet Hulme (Duxbury,MA) lifted the Hawks to a 3-0 win in seven innings over Wesleyan College on Thursday.

Hulme's kept Wesleyan College off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was in the circle. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four.

Nicole Wilson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs.

The game was never in doubt after the fourth, as the Hawks scored two runs on two singles.

In the fourth inning  Meghan Maliga (Suffiel, CT) signled an RBI to right field for Haley Ledbetter (Westerly, RI) to score the first run for the Hawks. Alicia McCauley (N. Reading, MA) singled to third base, bunt, RBI to adnvace Sarah Doe East Berkshire, VT) to second, Hulme's advanced to third to score  Mikaela Grosso (West Warwick, RI). In the fifth inning the Hawks would get their final run. Maglia singled to center field to get Veronica Alicea (Trumbull, CT) home.

In their second game of the day, the Hawks would fall to Lakeland College 5-1.
 
Savannah Stenlund recorded the win for Lakeland College. She allowed one run over seven innings. Stenlund struck out five, walked two and gave up three hits.
 
Meg Maliga (Suffield, CT) was charged with the loss. She lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
 
Lakeland College went up for good in the second, scoring two runs on a passed ball and an RBI single by Rylee Garand.
 
Lakeland College piled on two more runs in the top of the fifth. A ground out scored Rosa Gonzalez to start the scoring in the inning.

The Hawks would get their only run of the game in the fifth inning. Hulme's singled to right field with an RBI to advance Grosso to second, Bethany Wright (Northridge, MA) would run home and score for the Hawks.

The Hawks finished their Spring break trip 4-6 overall. The Hawks take the field Wednesday, March 16th against Coast Guard Academy for a double header at 3pm in Bristol, RI.
