Six straight for Men’s Lacrosse

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team won its sixth straight contest Saturday afternoon with a 13-9 victory over the University of New England.

The win keeps the Hawks undefeated in the Commonwealth Coast Conference at 3-0, as well as 7-3 overall. UNE falls to 6-5 and 1-1 in the CCC.

Roger Williams began the game holding the Nor'Easters scoreless in the first quarter. Will Siefert (Duxbury, Mass.) and John Lisitano (Guilford, Conn.) each scored in the period to give RWU an early 2-0 lead. UNE would grab both of those goals back in the second quarter, on scores by Andrew Curro (Niskayuna, N.Y.) and Philip Young (Unionville, Pa.).

Ryan McNabb (Westford, Mass.) regained the lead for RWU with 11:57 left on a man-up goal before Dan Auger (Nashua, N.H.) tied the game back up two minutes later. Roger Williams would then close out the period on a 4-1 run to take a three-goal lead into halftime.

From there, the Hawks maintained the lead throughout the remainder of the game. The turning point came in a three-minute stretch in the third period where the Hawks scored four unanswered goals to take a 12-5 lead with 7:29 left in the third quarter.

Though UNE would outscore Roger Williams 4-1 over the remainder of the game, the deficit proved to be too much as RWU held on for the win.

Nick Gagnon (Duxbury, Mass.) led RWU with six points on two goals and four assists. Lisitano added four points (1 G, 3 A) and two caused turnovers, while Siefert contributed four points (3 G, 1 A) and six ground balls.

Dan Arket (Poughquag, N.Y.) tallied ten ground balls for RWU and went 16-20 on faceoffs. Connor Carroll (Madison, Conn.) made 13 saves for RWU in the win.

Auger led the Nor'Easters with four points (3 G, 1 A) to go along with seven ground balls. Chris Harlow (Boston, Mass.) added two caused turnovers and nine ground balls. John Dusel (Wilbraham, Mass.) made five saves in the loss.

On Wednesday, Roger Williams will host Western New England, while UNE takes on Gordon.
