Box Score 2 BEVERLY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Softball team suffered a 6-2 and 9-3 loss to Endicott College Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
In the opener, the Hawks plated two runs in the top of the first from
Meredith Moise (North Reading, Mass.) and
Micaela Pohl (Middleboro, Mass.) before the Gulls grabbed both runs back in the second inning. Endicott would take the lead for good with three runs in the fourth and another in the fifth.
Pohl finished 2-for-3 in the game while
Veronica Alicea (Trumbull, Conn.) and
Taylor Messier (Cranston, R.I.) each went 1-for-3.
Meghan Maliga (Suffield, Conn.) took the loss, giving up six runs (four earned) in 34.2 innings.
In the second game,
Haley Ledbetter (Westerly, R.I.) started the Hawks off with a two-run homer to right, scoring herself and Messier. The Gulls tied it up at two in the bottom of the first, then took the lead in third with two more runs. Endicott later broke the game open with five runs in the fourth inning.
Alicea chipped away at the deficit with an RBI single, but it would not be enough as Endicott logged the six-run win.
Valerie Moran (Syosset, N.Y.) went 2-for-3, while Messier, Ledbetter, and Pohl each added a hit and a run each.
Juliet Hulme (Duxbury, Mass.) gave up eight runs in the loss.
Roger Williams (17-17, 10-6 CCC) will host Curry Sunday afternoon.
