Men’s Lacrosse grabs #3 seed for CCC Tourney

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team has earned the #3 seed for the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament.
 
Finishing the CCC regular season with a flawless 8-0 (13-3 overall) record, No. 14 Western New England claimed the top seed in this year's title chase.
 
Last year, WNE fell to Endicott by the narrowest of margins, 13-12, in the Championship game. The Gulls will enter this year's tournament as the second seed finishing 7-1 (8-8 overall) in the CCC. Their only loss came to the top-seeded Golden Bears.
 
The two teams, which have accounted for the last 12 CCC Men's Lacrosse Championships, will both receive quarterfinal byes.
 
The quarterfinal round is scheduled for Saturday, April 30. Roger Williams will host one quarterfinal matchup after finishing the CCC season with a 6-2 (10-7 overall) record and earning the No. 3 seed. The Hawks will host sixth seed Wentworth at 6 p.m. with the winner moving on to face Endicott.
 
The Leopards claimed the final spot in the tournament field by winning a tiebreaker with Curry as both teams finished 2-6. Wentworth was awarded the spot for its victory over the Colonels during the regular season.
 
The other quarterfinal has the University of New England, the No. 4 seed, hosting No. 5 Salve Regina. UNE earned the fourth seed in this year's tournament with a 5-3 (10-7 overall) record, while the Seahawks finished 4-4 (11-6 overall) for the fifth seed. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. with the winner advancing to play Western New England in the semifinals.
 
The two semifinal winners will meet for the Conference Championship on Saturday, May 7 with the highest remaining seed hosting. The CCC Champion will be awarded the conference's automatic berth into the 2016 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship.
