Western New England ended the scoring drought with 8:25 left in the second quarter, as Patrick Dillon (Baldwin, N.Y.) made his way around the goal and slipped in a shot for the first Golden Bear score.
With just under five minutes to play, the Hawks gained possession and worked the ball around for a good shot. The opportunity came when Hill made a nice juke and found
Max Cammarota (Redding, Conn.) at the top of the arc. Cammarota fired a shot on net for his seventh goal of the year. Macintyre followed a minute later, scoring off of a pass from Cammarota.
With eleven seconds left, Dillon had a point-blank attempt to cut the Golden Bear deficit to three, but sent the shot just wide right. Western New England would go into half time still trailing by four.

Later in the quarter, Max Berteletti (Montgomery, N.J.) muscled his way around a Hawk defender into the circle to score. Justin Bard (Westfield, Mass.) followed shortly after with a goal of his own to pull the Golden Bears within one.
The Golden Bears completed the comeback when Keegan Dudeck (Longmeadow, Mass.) sent a pass inside to Jon Bota (Mahopac, N.Y.) who tied the game at five with 5:47 left in the quarter. A pair of penalties gave the Golden Bears a two man-up opportunity, which they capitalized on to take the lead. Bard took a pass from Jared Ward (Littleton, Mass.) to put WNE on top six to five. Western New England went into the final quarter still holding onto the one goal lead.
The early part of the fourth quarter saw lack of scoring by both teams. It would not be until the ten-minute mark when the first goal was scored. Dillon put the game out of reach with back-to-back goals in under a minute to extend the lead to five.
