Bristol, RI- The Roger Williams University Softball team opened up a double header against Rhode Island College on Wednesday afternoon with an outbreak of runs. The Hawks jumped out to an early two-run lead off a single from Alicia McCauley. Juliet Hulme pitched three innings and recorded two strikeouts. With the Hawks holding a 4-0 lead, Meredith Moise and Haley Ledbetter each hit a single to put runners on first and second. Catcher Mikaela Grosso stepped up to the plate and drove the ball past the fence in left-center field for a homerun, recording her 4th RBI of the game. In the fifth inning, Moise hit one to the gap in right field, driving in McCauley for the 8th run, immediately ending the game.

After a brief break, the team started the second half of their double- header with Maddie Reis taking the mound. The Hawks struck first in the third inning when Ledbetter singled to left field, driving McCauley home from third base. The next batter, Julianne Vesce, flied out to center, but drove Tara Chatowsky in to make it 2-0. Reis kept RIC off the board until the sixth inning when a double lead to their first run of the day. In the top of the 7th inning, Reis retired the side in order, securing the Hawks' 2-1 victory.

The Hawks are now 9-8 on the season and take on Gordon College (4-9) on April 1st in Wenham, Mass.
